Burj al Arab

Introduction:

Burj al Arab is very Luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the 3rd tallest hotel in the world. 
This hotel stands on an artificial island 300 meters from the coast, opposite the Jumeriah Beach in Dubai.
It's shape of the structure is designed to imitate a sail ship's shape.
There are 202 rooms in the hotel. It's height is about 321 metres and it has 60 floors.



History: 

It has become a major tourist attraction in a very short time. 
Burj-al-Arab on Arabian means "Tower of the Arabs". 
It was designed by Tom Wright. 
The hotel looks like a seven-star hotel and is known for its unique architecture. However, it is only a five-star hotel. 
The construction of these hotel started on 1994 and it finished on 1999. The cost of the hotel is of 2 billion dollars. There were about 2.000 construction workers.





Structure:

The hotel structure is composed of concrete walls, a steel "exoskeleton", and a concrete core. Glass and steel make up the remaining portions of the exterior. The Steel structure was clad with aluminum panels.




Curiosities:

You can have dinner at an elevated height of 200 meters at one of Burj Al Arab Dubai's restaurant, the Al Muntaha. Another famous restaurant  it's the Al Muhara restaurant, that it's a submarine restaurant. This restaurant holds about 35.000 cubic feet of water and is voted one of 10 best amongst the world. 



The hotel has many swimming pools, a tennis court and an helicopter landing pad.
